Interesting that they’ve put out this statement just a couple of days after a spate of YouTube videos showing the cables being installed and various other testing.

I’ve followed the progress vids with interest. We’re at Pop mid March. I’d half convinced myself I’d be sailing over Hourglass Lake, en route to Epcot or HS. 😁

Depending on where you read info from, the air-con debate seems fairly evenly split. Personally I cannot see Disney building en enclosed gondola cable car in the Florida climate without air conditioning, given how hot & humid it gets in the summer months. In the event of a breakdown / lengthly stoppage, opening windows would not provide sufficient ventilation for guests.

Sure, there will be diesel backup generators that can turn the "drive" ropeway in the event of a power loss. However, using these will need the system to be run in a manual mode, so the attendance of maintenance technicians will be required. EVen if they only have a 10min stoppage it would get very uncomfortable, fast, in an enclosed gondola [even with limited opening windows] in the August Florida heat.

Air conditioning needs power - a fair bit of it too, so I suspect there is quite a bit more cabling other then the drive "ropeway" to be put in, before thorough testing, doubtless in the summer heat next year before unleashing the new transport system on guests.
I've read that there won't be any aircon on the cable cars.

The pictures of the cable cars they'll be using don't have any obvious aircon system.

Anyone will be able to go from Epcot to Hollywood Studios (or vice versa) using the Skyliner. However, they will have to change "line" at the CBR station.
