Different sort of day out

Wouldn’t suit everyone, but may interest someone, this is what we did on Tuesday afternoon/evening.
We drove to Winter Park and headed to Mead Botanical Gardens. These are quite small with free admission and we enjoyed wandering around the board walk and wild area and the prettier formal parts. DH swears he saw a large black cat but who knows.
We then had an early dinner at Reel Fish Coastal on North Orange Drive. Very pleasant ambiance and our waiter Geoffrey was very knowledgeable about regional fish. DH had the Gumbo and I had linguini in clam sauce which was more than a sauce with lots of sizeable fresh clams in it. Very tasty. I tried a local draft peach beer which was great. Geoffrey offered a wide range of desserts including 2 types of homemade bread puddings, Home made carrot cake and key lime pie, but we were too stuffed.
We then walked around the corner to Winter Park Distillery for a tour and tasting which we had booked on Groupon. It was very interesting, being a small enterprise and fascinating that the owner sometimes makes whatever he fancies. It was only us and a very friendly local couple. At the end we got to sample vodka, white rum, aged rum, white whiskey, and 2 types of bourbon.

Thanks for recommending, this sounds like a lovely day away from the parks. Will make a note for our next trip.

that sounds fabulous and we love Winter Park. We will definitely head to the distillery in a few weeks when we go down there. Try the boat tour next time, its a local mom and pop enterprise and great value and fun seeing all the gorgeous houses from the waterways.

Second that, my wife and i went in March and it was a brilliant morning out.
