American football, basketball or baseball tickets

Hi

We’re travelling to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in Early April and my two boys (aged 9 and 11) are sports mad. Do you know of any places to get tickets for sports events in Florida please, or which the best sports are for spectators, without spending a fortune

Many thanks

NBA will still be in regular season, so Orlando Magic would be an option.

MLB starts in April so fixtures and dates permitting then the Marlins may be an option.

Ive done the magic a good few times and love it, the poorer the opposition the cheaper band the tickets. The further away from the court the cheaper the tickets.

The MLB season will be in full swing, tickets aren't normally that expensive.

Apart from the previous posts, NFL is out of season. Don't forget other sports.

Ice hockey - games in the first week of April, e.g. Orlando Solar Bears at the Amway Center. They are a minor league team, so cheaper than the 2 main NHL Florida teams.

Soccer - MLS - Orlando City season starts in March (schedule not out yet)

Two minor teams play at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee - Orlando Seawolves (Arena soccer) and Florida Firefrogs (baseball).

All sports teams have their own web sites, with schedules, info, tickets etc (main leagues use Ticketmaster) so you can book online, but in most cases you can get tickets on the day at the venue.

We went to the baseball last year at San Diego to watch the LA Dodgers. It was a great evening's entertainment We are going to Tampa for the Maple Leafs ice hockey game in a few weeks time. This was booked months ago and, as luck would have it, these teams are at the top of their division.

Don't forget colleges and universities. They have all kinds of teams and some do not even charge to watch. Bigger football teams like the University of Florida (not in season when you go) charge a bit for tickets but I know my university never charged for baseball of soccer (also out of season). MY DD rode on the equestrian team, not only were the shows free but the parents put out tables of food to snack on.

You can go to the school website (usually school name.edu) and then their athletics page.

Orlando Magic games are really good fun. Fabulous stadium and really good non-game entertainment.
