Things to do close to Nasa ?

We are looking at visiting Cape Canaveral in May.

We were wondering if there's anything close by that's worth visiting over that way.

Shopping, sites, something fun, anything really !

Thanks for your help

Its difficult to answer without possibly suggesting things you might not think of as fun, which is why I held off when I first saw your post.

Here is a small cross section from my limited knowledge though:

Beaches. Cocoa Beach maybe some surfing, or Daytona which has more of a car lovers feel. Its also possible to parasail in the area too.

There is a aircraft museum nearby which we would have gone to if we had more time, if that floats your boat

If you like wildlife Merritt Island reserve is nearby with lots of birds, manatee spotting, and poss gators.

There are some websites for space coast that might give you more of a flavour of what is there, which might come up with things you like the look of. I just googled things to do near kennedy space centre I think.

Have a great trip

Note that KSC is a full day trip. You won't have time for anything else apart from, say, going over to Cocoa Beach in the evening to look at the beach/pier for an hour or so, then having dinner before heading back.

If you are planning to go for several days, then there are dozens of things all along the coast. Your question is a bit 'how long is a piece of string'. As DFussy says, browse the visitor web-sites - all the towns there have them to attract visitors.

Another vote for Merritt Island. Make sure you do the Black Point wildlife drive. The wildlife is amazing x

If you're heading over to the coast from Orlando for the day, and returning the same day then you may not have much spare time outside your trip to Kennedy Space Centre - it really can fill a whole day, and then some, easily.

If nothing else though, head to nearby Cocoa Beach, feel the sand between your toes and have a paddle. Then head to the Rikki Tiki Tavern on the end of Cocoa Beach Pier and enjoy the view and early evening sun as you have something to eat. It's a wonderful spot.

The Valiant air command museum at Titusville is very good. It is very informal and fun. Some interesting stuff, also.
