things to see ? (offsite)

Morning all
We are visiting Orlando in February, without our now grown up family, just the two of us for the first time !

We have been lucky enough to have visited a few times, and our DD was a Disney bride in 2015 (for pics, see my post 'At last our Disney bride').

We are not doing any parks this time (sorry folks!).

I was hoping some of you may have a few suggestions for things to see/do which are a little off the beaten track, or simply hidden gems.
We have done the usual KSC, airboats, clearwater etc and will be visiting the Florida State fair, but wondered if you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks
Jan

The rainbow river. We are giving this a go next summer.

Casperson beach, sifting for fossilised sharks teeth, then a meal at ‘Sharkys’ by the pier.

The Native American Indian and his presentation at the boggy creek airboat centre. (Really interesting).

Pensacola navy aviation museum and a night or two at the Margaritaville hotel (if you like driving!)

Thank you. This is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for!

Another vote for Mount Dora - various boat tours and some you have to book in advance
Crystal River kayaking - take a kayak, tie it up and have a swim in the springs
Heard excellent reports about Rainbow River
Have fun

We went to Mount Dora for the lake & canal boat ride for the first time last month. Managed to see a mating pair of bald eagles in a tree adjacent to the lake.

Can also recommend Winter Park for the lake ride and Morse Museum, Harry Leu Gardens, Bok Tower and, for a longer day trip, St Augustine.
