This is getting a joke now! I’ve just had this text/email from the passport office!
COVID-19: In line with public health guidance, we continue to work with fewer staff. We are still unable to advise when a passport will be issued if your application is successful, and are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please do not contact us about progress: we will process your application as soon as we can. There has been DIBBers that have applied well after me, and received their passport!

I think it depends which office they were sent to because a lot of staff have been redeployed to deal with universal credit as obviously most people won't have urgent need of a passport at the moment .

I applied for renewals for myself and daughter. Mine went to Peterborough office and was back within a week.
DD’s old passport that was sent same day as mine hasn’t even been scanned in the office. I had a reminder email Yesterday saying please send your old passport. This one was to Durham. Our hol in July hasn’t officially been cancelled yet, so it’s one more thing to stress about! Hope jet2 hurry up and cancel then I can forget about the lot!

After posting this morning I’ve just had a message to say that the passport is being printed - almost 2 months to the day that they received all the documents! This was at the Peterborough office.
