I believe Hotel New York is closing early Man for refurbishment into Marvel themed hotel. From reports I've read it is now looking tired and need of refurbishment. We got good deal for October half term though. If not looking for a bargain would go Newport Bay

Newport bay was lovely when we went in November.
They had lovely Christmas trees and decs and the character meets in the morning were great.
Rooms were really warm (a little too warm) and the walk to the park was only 10 mins max

Sequoia Lodge would always be my first choice. Lovely and cosy in winter.

id do newport over new york any day, until they refurb it. You can still go ahve a look around new york if you wanted to see it. But for us the rooms where too tired to justify the price.

Maybe OP not seen your post yet, but pretty sure the room was not Compass Club because we were in one last week and the bed head is different, plus I think CC rooms are on higher floors - we were on floor 8.
