Given the tragic outcome, the fact that none of us know the circumstances, and that the adults accompanying adults will be distraught, uninformed speculation like this is a bit distasteful. The relevant authorities will carry out an investigation and establish what actually happened.

Very sad news.

There aren't any. We've been on the ride quite a few times over the years.

I have been on the Rapids at light water valley, Alton towers and Drayton manor I can't remember lap belts on any of them tbh.

I was just trying to remember and I'm pretty sure there aren't any at Alton towers as I usually have to hold on to dd which is now as scary thought as she's much younger than the poor girl

I agree with you. We know nothing about the circumstances leading to this tragedy and my thoughts are with the poor young girl's family.
