BA Deposit only?

Hi,

We've finally found flights we're happy with, flying with BA. We've previously flown BA flydrive and just paying deposit, however, this time around they seem to be really high so looked at flight only. The problem is, we don't have the option of paying the deposit only (moving in a month or so and worried that paying out £1000's may look negative on our credit check for the mortgage).

Has anyone managed to pay deposit only if you give them a call on just flights? If not, I think we may just wait for Boxing Day sales when the house will finally (hopefully) have all gone through.

Thanks x

I believe that deposits are only available when booking a package (flight and car/hotel). Flight only requires payment in full

That is correct - flight only must be paid in full and doing it over the phone is exactly the same. Is it possible for you to add one days hotel/car hire to your flights to turn it into a package?

You could add a one night hotel stay to make it a package. Doesn’t need to be for the full duration.
I’ve also found sometime when looking at flights with ba it adds the car on rather than creating a package and this is more expensive.
Make sure you are logged into with an exec account as you should get a discount on the car hire too.
And start the search as flight and car.

Thanks for all of your replies/advice. I've just tried with adding a car onto a package for 1 day, cheapest car and the difference is quite high (£720 more) this is because it's automatically added on luggage but we were going to go out with hand luggage and pay for 1 case on the return.

Hey ho, the search continues!

How about booking an airport hotel to the flights for the night before you are due to fly. This will then give you the option to pay a deposit. I did this a few weeks ago. Paid £150 deposit.

It will still do standard economy rather than the basic no luggage option if you do it as a package regardless of hotel car.

I've just spent the last hour trying to add a hotel on and despite me saying 3 adults and 2 children, trying 1 room and 2 room options it keeps coming up as 2 adults and 3 children on the room booking (I've lost track of how many times I've added all of our date of births etc). Throwing in the towel for today as that's just wound me up) ARRRGH!

Thanks for hall of the help though x

You need to go to flight + hotel and then at the side it will say custom my trip and then it lets you do it and you don’t have to put date of births in till the end. One night at the Hilton and flights to Orlando for 5 has a £300 deposit.
