Uber themselves say:

"Please only plan on putting 4 people in your Uber (including you).
The reason for the rule is not only for your safety, but because it’s the law. Right now the majority of the cars we have on the road are sedans which legally seat 4 passengers – asking your driver to pack in more people puts them at risk of receiving a ticket, losing their insurance, and puts extra wear-and-tear on the interior of their car (read: endangers their livelihood!).

Not only do we love our drivers and want to keep them happy, but having to cancel your Uber ride because the driver won’t take your 5 friends is an altogether lame experience. And believe us: we know how we’re going to fix this *cough* car-type selection *cough* ability to request more than one car from a single account *cough*

If you have more people than will fit in one car:

Have more than one person in your group request a car on their own Uber accounts. If no one else in your entourage has an account, invite them to join Uber and we’ll hook them up with $20 of credit towards their first ride. Use ORL2G for $20 free towards their first ride"

I'd get as many people in your party, all five if possible, to get the app and sign up for the free credit. You'll then have up to $100 to put towards your rides.

Hi, we're a family of 5, youngest 15 and nearly 6' so technically all adult size. On your first page it says we can order UberX and see what type of car is coming and we have a few minutes to cancel if not suitable. How do you know if it is a 7 seater?

See I'm thinking, as a family of 5, if we have to order 2 cars we would be just as well booking transport elsewhere.

We only plan to use a taxi on 2 occasions. From our villa to Universal, then back again the following night.

Thanks

Where exactly is your villa?

After a driver has accepted your ride request, the name of the driver, the licence plate and, crucially, the make and model of car as well as a picture of it pop up at the bottom of the app. You have five minutes to look at it, perhaps Google it if unsure, to decide whether it's suitable. if not, cancel your request on the app, leave it a couple of minutes and try again.

Thank you for this thread and your advice yesterday.

We successfully used uber from OKW to Walmart Vineland rd the journey cost us $8.99 clean car, pleasant driver we gave a $2 tip.

Return journey cost $13.99 (driver took wrong turn which is why it cost us so much more, we paid for her mistake really so we didn't tip) Again clean car and a pleasant driver.

We are going to use them today to go to Florida mall.

If you want, you can contact Uber for a refund on the return trip. They refund the difference if the driver didn't take the quickest route. We didn't bother despite the odd +$10 difference as it was saving us so much money anyway.

Glad to hear you're enjoying using it!

These are your fares from your villa with Uber to Universal:

uberX $17-23
uberXL $33-44
UberSELECT $43-58

This is your fare with Mears:

$44.60

All fares are one-way.

As you can see, you have nothing to lose by trying for a UberX first and hoping it's larger than a sedan. You'd also save about $20 return (if you had to) by ordering two UberXs!

Obviously, you could bypass all that, just bite the bullet and order UberXL and definitely save the $20 return.

sorry to sound dim, but if we ordered the uber xl does that mean the car will seat 5 , or will it just be a more luxurious car
