ID - Disney & discovery cove
What ID do we need to get served alcohol at Disney?
Also what ID do they require at discovery cove and does it have to be original instead of copies? Thank you |

I can't help with DC as we've not been (yet going this summer so curious to know the answer).
For wdw it is stated that you will need ID for all alcohol purchases. But the reality we've found is that it is rarely asked for. I am 40 and DH is 45. We first went in 2014 and we have not been carded ever at wdw. We usually have a bottle of wine for dinner ADRs and we like the cocktails at Epcot world showcase. So, we have tested this theory a fair bit. I guess it depends how old you are, or more likely, how old you look for most places. I did read on gopherlass's trippie recently that her DH was carded in Disney Springs at Earl of Sandwich (I think sorry if I got it wrong ). Anyway according to her trippie he was not best pleased, but I've now adding that restaurant to my list of places to make me feel younger!

I'm 42 and don't look younger ! Wouldn't think to carry Id but will be most fed up if I can't get a cocktail but would rather not risk losing my passport somewhere.

Seriously, thinking about it I'm sure I've read on other people's trip reports that photo copies are accepted. We always lock all passports in the safe in the room. You could take your photo driving licence as this would fit in a wallet, but we've not bothered. I too would be cursing if we got turned down. So please don't blame me!

You need your photo driving licence and a screenshot of your passport on your phone, or your passport. Not everywhere enforces this and some places are happy to take just the driving licence but I have been refused previously without the picture of my passport - and I'm nearly 40 so not like I am in my young 20's

At DC, when you check in, they will issue a plastic card with your picture on it This card will bear some kind of 21+ sign IF you have shown a valid ID at check in from that point on, the DC plastic card will serve as your ID for the day. if you don't provide ID, you won't get the 21+ distinction, and won't be served alcohol. Edited at 09:59 AM. Reason: 21+ not 18+ :p |

We only use the real passports, so I can't answer that.
