Vegas and road trip next week, are jackets needed?

With only a week to go I'm still dithering over the mound of clothes heaped in the spare room
We are visiting Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon and Zion national parks.
Thin wind proof jackets seem to flimsy if it's cold early morning and evening in particular. We have hoodies, I suppose layers are the way forward...

Vegas was very hot last week we had temps of 100 but it's cooling down this next couple of weeks to more normal march temps .
I would just pack a hoodie , were in California now and it's about 70 feels cold to us as we've roasted for the last two weeks , it was 111 Sunday but it's not really and most people are in t shirts .

We've brought so many clothes we haven't worn though .

The Grand Canyon is saying snow on the weather report this week, and wintery mix.

DW and I set off for our West Coast Adventure next week and after looking at the weather forecast I was saying to a work colleague that there is more than a 40 degree C swing between the hottest (Death Valley) and coldest (Grand Canyon) places that I am visiting. Glad we're flying PE with plenty of luggage allowance so we can pack to cover all eventualities.

Hi Judy I have to say I'm a little bit jealous of your upcoming trip!
This time last year we were over there and I think if you pack a couple of layers you will be OK.

About this time last year we had an overnight stay at the south rim of Grand Canyon, and although Los Angeles, the National Parks on the way to Vegas and Vegas itself had been pleasantly warm we found the Grand Canyon to be cooler through the day. I think it is at a high elevation.
We stayed out in the evening on the rim itself to see sunset and got up early next day to see the sunrise (both totally unmissable! ) and both those times it was really quite noticeably cold. We also drove out from hotel late at night to park at look at the stars with zero light pollution. Awesome. No words can describe that sight. And yes it was very cold then too.

I do hope you'll come on after your holiday and say what you thought of Antelope Canyon and Zion Park? as we are doing both those in October this year!

Have a fabulous trip, as I say I'm a teensy bit jealous but next week we are also heading off, on another adventure, our first Caribbean Cruise, so if we enjoy it half as much as we did our trip incorporating the Grand Canyon last year it will be money well spent.
Enjoy and be prepared to be blown away! (if you've not seen it before) !

I'd definitely take a hoodie/ jumper. I went in 2008 and nearly froze without one on a trip to the grand canyon (in May). I'd gone from melting the day before to being absolutely freezing (and I am the type of person who rarely wears a coat).

I think we're packed for every eventuality, and yes I'll definately be back on after the holiday to say how things went 😀

We went to Vegas in the last week of February (but stayed in Vegas and only went to red rock canyon) and it was about 14 degrees. My wind breaker jacket was more than enough layers with a top underneath.

Where as I was in Vegas a week ago and temps were well into the 90s , it was roasting every day .

We've been over here 18 days , Tuesday last week in Disney we had some rain and it was cooler and it's been cooler here at night in Fontana but the rest of the time it's been hot .

Has cooled down to the high 70s in Vegas now though .
