Cheap/glitch California flights thread July/August 2019
We are hoping to try California next year so thought I would start a thread for anyone that spots a deal for next summer holidays. The Florida one has always been great in posting some amazing bargains!

You will get far better deals to California than Florida on flights we could have gone in August this year booking in June for around £300 direct with luggage and seats. An open jaw can be a good idea into LA out of SFO and this is often only a little more and there are generally no one way fees within California. If you want to drive highway 1 you are better off flying in to SFO and out of LAX as you are driving down on the ocean side but for some reason these flights are usually slightly more expensive. Some times a return to SFO is cheaper than LAX and vice versa. You are better without a car on SFO but you have to have one in LA.
Just one th8ng to remeber whils5 flights are cheaper than Florida hotels are a lot more expensive particularly in SF (and you need to get the area right here) and food is also more expensive than Orlando at least. |

That would be great if we could get them as low as that. We are quite flexible on dates, can be any 3 weeks from the 17/07 but need to be back for GCSE results which I believe is 22nd Aug.
Looking at the BA sale at the mo they are coming in at over £900pp for flight and car! Hoping that once AA release their fares they might come down a bit. In no rush to buy but not sure I can hold my nerve until June though! Yes have been looking at the prices for California and aware they’re not cheap in the slightest😳. Thinking of hiring a large RV for the PCH part of the holiday, works out cheaper when split between 2 families |

We booked our multi-city flydrive in the BA sale on 12/9 last year (August trip), including car in LA for £430pp. We went Manchester to NYC, then after 5 days in NYC we flew to LAX and back to MAN from LAX. The flights were only available at that price for about 48 hours so keep checking as after the sale they more than doubled in price and stayed that way. Good Luck!

Just done my first flight search for next summer and horrified at those prices in the BA ‘sale’ .
We’ve had some luck with cheap BA flydrives for Florida before (although not in the last year or so) but that doesn’t seem to be the case for the West Coast at the moment anyway. We are tied to BA (unless another airline is pretty much giving away flights) because of DH’s Gold card benefits and the points the flights will give us. Will keep checking... Wow, that’s great. Fingers crossed we can snap up something similar...will keep checking this thread and trying the BA site . I think we’re going to do a round trip in and out of either San Francisco or Los Angeles, does anyone know if one or the other is likely to be cheaper, or if it’s much of a muchness? Also quite flexible on dates, anytime in the summer holidays but would prefer the end of the holidays when US schools are back (in theory, that didn’t really turn out to be the case this year in Florida.) So will keep an eye on which dates might be cheaper too.

Check AA flights when they come out - often see good prices. We booked our direct flights to LA on the AA website (BA flights) in Oct 2016 £240pp, but that was in a sale. Booked direct AA flights to LA next Easter for £600pp but main cabin extra going out with great legroom, and PE coming home. Very pleased with that as it's a long flight
