T-5 sleeps. Are We Really Doing This?

So it took me ages to decide on which hotel to book. I must have read hundreds of reviews on Trip Advisor. I wanted to avoid the crowds of Times Square, particularly given the time of year we were planning on visiting during. There were so many locations and so many choices.

A few years back when I had been considering going somewhere other than WDW (don't worry - I soon came to my senses!) I discovered the Kimpton chain. They seemed to get pretty good reviews and I liked their style. A few more hours on trip advisor and I decided on the Kimpton Hotel Eventi. A fairly central location and I love the look of their rooms.

Shaun doesn't know it yet but as this trip is to celebrate his birthday I made contact with the hotel and they have very kindly upgraded us to a high floor and a view of the Empire State Building.

Should be pretty impressive - They don't call me the magical vacation planner for nothing.

We plan on getting a cab from the airport. I did do a lot of research and know it can be done fairly easily using the train and metro but after a long travel day you can't beat the ease of just sitting back and enjoying the sights of the city whilst someone else gets you from A to B. It didn't take much to convince Shaun so yellow cab it is.

We have a route picked out for our first evening to get our bearings. Going to head up to Bryant Park and check out the holiday market.we also plan on stopping at the Port Authority to grab some tickets using our sightseeing pass which I've prebooked to Woodbury Common. We plan on going there on the Wednesday. That'll get our shopping fix out of the way and then we can just enjoy the sights. (That's what I've told Shaun anyway!)

One of these evenings I really must start packing. I did finish all of the ironing this evening so at least everything is now ready for when we actually decide what we want to take with us.

Weather is looking quite nice but we know it's going to feel a lot colder than here so just trying to decide what we are going to want with us.

Set up a WhatsApp group today for the kids to follow. I know they are going to miss me photographing their food (why do we do that when we are on holiday?) so thought I could send them the odd snap. They can also share photos of Teddy so I can check they have remembered to feed him... I do trust them... honest!

Only 2 more days at work... countdown is on!
