In San Diego we stayed at Best Western Islsnd Palms on Shelter Island. Nice large suite and lovely location on the water. It was a bit further out from the centre but again Uber's were cheap and a nice quiet location. Have a great time!
Was just about to write the same!

I stayed in tangerine hotel in Burbank. Totally recommend it. Ideal for Warner brother studios and universal. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

I also stayed in Hollywood celebrity hotel. Again very nice and 1 minute walk from Hollywood boulevard. O wouldn't recommend staying in this area. It takes a few hours at most and you've seen it all. I spent most of my time travelling on the hoho bus. If you can afford it I would recommend santa Monica but the hotel prices were way out my budget.
