From Disney's Memory Maker FAQ:
"Q. How long will Memory Maker photos be available in my Disney account? A. Disney PhotoPass photos, photos from select dining locations, photos from select attractions and any other media in your account are subject to the Disney PhotoPass Expiration Policy and currently expire 45 days from the date the photo was taken. You may be able to purchase an expiration extension on the Disney PhotoPass website."

Does anyone know whether the extension to the 45 day expiration date can be added on AFTER the 45 days has passed? Owing to unforeseen circumstances I have not been able to download all of my photos before they expired. 🙁

Contact them ASAP. We had it extended as the system kept breaking but this was on the 45 day mark so I'm not sure what their back up system is like.
That said, my sister had photos taken in September 2017 which were still showing on our account in September 2018 for no apparent reason so worth checking if they are still on there.

It has to be done before the 45 day period, not after.
See the following: disneyworld.disney.go/en...ration-policy/ "Disney PhotoPass photos, dining photos, attraction photos and other digital content in your account will expire 45 days from the date the photo was taken. If you would like to extend the expiration date to 60 days from the date the photo was taken, you may purchase an expiration extension. All photos in your account as of the day the expiration extension is purchased will now expire 60 days from the date the photo was taken (instead of 45 days)" If you do the extension more than 45 days after the photos are taken then the photos will no longer be in your account and therefore the extension will not apply to them. It only applies to photos that are less than 45 days old. Also note that you can only extend the life of the photos by a maximum of 15 days. If you contact Disney and ask them nicely then it's possible they may make an exception for you and re-instate your photos. I don't know and I can't guarantee they will.

Was your sister, or anyone connected to her MDE account, an Annual Pass holder?
If so, then the photos last for 365 days for AP holders, not 45 days (see the bottom of the above link).

Nope not at the time of the photos. We brought APs in September and they all reappeared which is what made me think they might still be held somewhere on the system after the 45 day mark

UPDATE: I emailed Guest Services explaining that i hadn’t been able to download all of my photos in the allotted time and they kindly extended the period to 75 days from the date of each photo. I spent a very productive few hours yesterday downloading them all. HAPPY DAYS !
