Anyone driven Tioga Pass in Mid October
Hi all
We are planning on driving from Lone Pine to Yosemite on 13 October this year but I am now panicking that the road may be icy/snowy even so early. Has anyone driven this route at this time of year? If we can't manage Tioga pass what are our options from Lone Pine to Yosemite? Also, will Glacier Point be open then or is there a chance of this being closed too? |

History says you should be ok from a full closure point of view.

Hi have a look at the road website and you will see the closure times for each of the last 20 years. The last lot of years it generally hasn't closed unto November . Last year didn't open to last few days June as they had to clear 30 foot snow drifts, also look at photos of the tioga pass interesting views of the snow drifts

We drove from Yosemite to Lone Pine via Tioga Pass on October 22nd last year, and it was fine. Fantastic drive, but they close it at the first significant snowfall, which has usually been in November recent years.
