We did Gatwick to MCO some years ago ... and for the first and last time! It was absolute hell compared with Manchester!

We are in Worcester and always fly from Manchester now, usually the Virgin morning flight. The first time we flew indirect from Heathrow and we have flown from Gatwick elsewhere. The journey to Gatwick was a nightmare and took us hours, especially the M25 part of the journey. The price from Gatwick so much cheaper to make it worth flying from there for us. The journey to Manchester airport is about 2 hours (would leave earlier though just in case) but we like to stay overnight at an airport hotel to make things less stressful and also the holiday starts a day earlier.
We got a good deal with Charter Travel flying Virgin for the end of August on our preferred flight.

Another one near Bhx. Manchester or Heathrow for us too. Have used Heathrow more in recent years as the prices have been better for the flights we wanted. Have flown with Tui from Bhx which was great as although only one flight a week the days worked for us. We also like Aer Lingus and don't mind the indirect as you clear immigration in Dublin and then straight through at the other end. I am also a nervous flyer but can cope with this as the convenience of landing and being 20 mins from home outweighs the indirect flight!

Sounds like alot of us are from Worcester or surrounding. We prefer manchester but Gatwick worked out about £600 cheaper for end oct/Nov
For us. So will have to suffer the journey but hope it's not to bad the evening before we fly. Not bothered about the journey home during the day. |

We are in Leeds, we flew twice from Manchester with Virgin but for August last year Virgin wanted £4640 for 2ad and 2ch aged 15 and 12.
Instead we flew from Dublin, same dates, direct to Mco for £2800 and got the benefit of preclearance. The Man-Dub bit we did the day before and stayed at Premier Inn. The luggage was steep but the flight was £350 for the flight. I think Premier Inn was £60 or so. If I tinkered the dates by 1 day I could have saved another £200 but our hotels were all booked so we left it. The killer was flying back into Dublin and waiting 4 hours for our Manchester flight, but this was Manchester timings, you can fly BHX into Dublin. Totally worth it for the money. Looking at my dates for August, BHX to DUB return is £167 with Ryanair so it depends how much luggage you have to add onto that.
