You won’t get anything back if you cancel but if it’s cancelled for any other reason you get back the taxes in cash and the rest by a points refund or a hotels.com voucher.

Don't hold your breath on the points refund or hotels.com voucher.
I won't book through hotels.com.using clubcard vouchers after the way they have handled things recently

Hotels.com were really good when our airport hotel was cancelled in June. We had used Tesco vouchers and weren't expecting anything back so I'd written it off but we received an email with a voucher code for the total value.
