If you can't persuade your mother to consider a scooter (even playing up the 'independence' element of it), from memory of my dad's first trip - there are quite a lot of gentle slopes (eg from the village to Disneyland hotel) - all designed to be wheelchair accessible so no steep inclines, but can add up to some exertion due to the distance. But as others have said there are also lots of places to sit and rest.

The longest stretches, where you can't easily stop for an attraction/diversion, are walking through the Village, and getting between the two parks. (The walk to Studios seemed SO long, even though it was mainly flat).

There are plenty of things (particularly in the studios) where you can take in shows etc, which feel like you've done proper Disney things, without needing to walk great distances. Or in Disneyland Park, you can easily rest by going into attractions.

Disneyland Hotel sounds like a reasonable solution to me -you might just need to adjust the pace of the holiday a little from usual. You'll know your mum better than most, it will be a decision about the strain of the holiday vs the potential boost of being able to do something she loves.

The shuttle from Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay, when we have stayed there didnt feel like it took much walking off ( as you had to get to the bus stop, and then walk from by the station, through a busy bag check, into the village area).

Thank you ever so much - this is really helpful. I did wonder if the hotel shuttle only went as far as to the station, as I don’t remember ever seeing it near the park - so as you say, that is still quite a walk.

I think I will have to talk to mum before I thought of booking anything - at least if I know if she would consider a scooter if she finds it too much, then we’d have a back up plan.

My idea of surprising her with the trip could severely backfire if she decided she was too unwell to go and won’t entertain the idea of any aids to make it work!
