As others have said, Soarin' is nice, FOP is jaw dropping. I was speechless after riding it the first time. I rode it 7 times on my last 2-week trip, and I never got bored of it. In fact, I made sure it would be the last ride on the last day of my trip, to finish my holidays on a high! I cannot wait to experience it again next year.

FOP is good, but if you've been on Soarin a lot then it's pretty much the same thing, but instead of being sat in a row with people, you're sat stradling a bike type thing. Obviously it's Avatar themed so the scenes you "fly" through are made up (and CGI), but it's essentially the same ride. Personally I prefer Soarin, I think FOP has just had a lot of hype and it's relatively new so everyone wants to go on it. I don't like the CGI bit either as it's obviously not real places you're flying through and feels a bit more like you're on a virtual reality game.

The same ride? I understand you preferring Soarin’ due to it showing real places but there’s no comparison with the realistic sensation of flying on FoP. There’s also the bendy screen on Soarin’ which had me asking if the castle was like that it real life.

I think FOP is far superior as PP says new Soarin’ is not great unless you are right in the centre, all buildings seriously curved if you are near the end of a row.
I haven’t seen Avatar but loved FOP, a must do

I wouldn't say it was a realistic sensation of flying, it's an ok ride and worth a go, but the cgi ruined it for me as it just feels like a game rather than being believable. If you're into games though you'd probably love it.

I agree that FOP is the better ride experience, although having sat on the edge and the middle of FOP, there is some distortion at the sides. Middle is best

We did FOP for the first and second times last August and loved it. We went back a few weeks ago and both my husband and myself came off pretty emotional on what was our third FOP ride. So it’s definitely possible to get emotional even when it’s not your first FOP ride. It’s just stunning, so beautiful, and so much fun.

Definitely my favourite ride anywhere, although I will concede that the pre-shows are irritating after the first ride (so long!) But then all pre-shows gets annoying if you ride the ride a lot (Gringotts, Dinosaur, even Despicable Me.)

Soarin’ on the other hand...we were never fans of the original and did the new version once after it was open. We thought it was worse than the original and haven’t bothered to ride a second time as it just doesn’t appeal. But I would wait an hour or so to ride Flight Of Passage.

Absolutely love FOP !
Such a great ride.
I do suffer from motion sickness and was apprehensive about this and the fact that I am scared of heights and don't do rollercoaster !
However I was fine !
Glad to read that I am not the only one who got emotional on this as it was so beautiful and brought it home what a mess we are making of our planet.
Used to love the old Soarin' and was really looking forward to the new version but sadly was disappointed and very put off by the bendy buildings!
No comparison between the two sides FOP is in a different class !
