5th or 6th - Christmas tree down?

Are you supposed to wait until after 12th night so 6th or do you take it down on the 12th night so 5th?

No idea, ours came down on 30th December once Christmas is over, I just can't stand all the decorations anymore, especially as I was back at work on 27th.

I always thought that it was supposed to be down by Twelfth Night, but ours came down yesterday.

Yes I can see your point of view but for us as our DS birthday is in December we don't put the tree up/ cards etc until after his birthday and at least a few days of having his cards up so we didn't put the tree up until the weekend before Christmas so I always leave it later than some.

You may well be right that it is down by twelfth - googling doesn't help -seems to be a debate about whether you count Christmas Day itself or not!

Epiphany is on the 6 January so this is always the day we've taken our decorations down.

I think it’s meant to be by the twelfth night, which is the 6th I think. I know my mum used to wait until the 6th and do it exactly on that day. I took ours down on the 2nd, I usually wait until New Year’s Day is over then get them down as soon as possible

Why do we "take all the Christmas out" on the equivalent day the wise men arrived with presents?
