Testing Magic bands

So 3 years ago I brought a character Magic band (Mickey on an American flag) and now been 3 years old I know it could be hit or miss if the battery has died or not (I the battery is used for long throw pickup for ride photos)
does anyone know of anyway to test if this is still working or is it a case of hope for the best?

if it doesn't work as I am so attached to my one my band my back up plan is to take the magic band that I will get when I check in to my Disney hotel remove the puck and either put it in my pocket or buy a keyring adapter and use the character band for park entry spending etc, if I need to follow that path does anyone know the cost of the keyring keepers on site?

We bought our magic bands in 2015 and used them with no issues last year, it even picked up a video from Buzz lightyear!,if you can link it in mde it will work fine,it just may not pick up the videos, but our 4 year old ones did!

It's only ever the ride videos that are going to be affected, if you wanted the photos then you can always just touch your MB to the pad. I'm unaware of any test & the only other way you would know would be to do 7DMT, for example, & see if you still got the ride video. I think they state 2-3 years on the battery for the long range RFID chip.
I think we paid about $10 for the keyfob & that includes the screwdriver to get the "bit" out.

There is no place to scan your band for example on the 7DMT, the photos and video is via RF only.

We are going to take ours from last year.

Use your old one on your wrists and throw one of the new ones you get in your bag.
You can link more than one to your account, or one person in the group wears a new one for the videos.

GO onto mde and go to tickets and magic bands ,on there it says link magic band, type in the number on the back of your magicband,it should then appear in MDE,you can then activate or deactivate

Sorry when I used 7DMT, I knew that there wasn't a pad, I meant that the video will either show in your MDE - proof it's still working- or it doesn't ….
