737s have been flying for around 50 years in many variants. The max 8 is only one of them the main difference being more efficient engines. That’s one of the reasons I’m happy still to fly on them.

You have struck the nail in the head. It’s all rumour, no one knows. Another Rumour is that lack of pilot training is to blame, not switching certain controls when meant too. Another is a bomb that affected controls.
Boeing have not mentioned anti stall, attitude control ( not altitude which is totally different), nor any of the rumours I mentioned.

I think, looking at the lists of airlines still flying these, the only one to be concerned about for most on here will be short range TUI flights to Europe.

I’ll wait to see what Boeing come up with but as of now I’m on a TUI flight later this year and if they are still in service and on my route I’ll still be on it. I’m more likely to get killed driving to the airport to catch the flight.

Jet 2 will be using an Airtanker A330 Airbus amongst others for that route. ( remember TC had two of them )

As they are short haul, they won’t be used on transatlantic flights, so if you are Florida bound, you can relax if you were worried.
Both Air Canada and Westjet use them on transatlantic flights. If your'e on an indirect flight then UA, AA, Southwest all use them. Ryanair are due to take delivery of their first one in the near future.

I have also read that maybe Boing have grandfathered in lots of systems from the earlier models and these may not be compatible with the newer systems (or at least nothave multiple back up systems). This allows easier flight safety approvals?

Maybe I’ve been doing too much reading with too little knowledge

Or people flying indirect with AA who have only 8 or them, or anyone using Southwest who have 34.

That's fairly comprehensive. I cannot imagine anything other than a worldwide grounding as being the end point. Either by Boeing or by default as more an more aviation authorities take the same approach.

May cause some disruption I guess though but better safe than sorry.

Just checked the aircraft on a flight we a taking from Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur early next month. We are flying with Malindo Air (a subsidiary of Lion Air) who were the first airline to operate the B737 max8 - it’s scheduled to be a 737-800, phew!
