Villa Owners-Can you recommend a US Bank?

I need to open a US Bank Account and wondered if anyone can give me some information. Do they generally charge for a basic account? Which bank would you recommend? Thanks in anticipation.

If outside the state of Florida Bank of America would be your best bet
All the banks have various levels of charges and the banking system compared to the uk is out of the ark

We went with a Suntrust account, we have a basic checking account. It needs either $500 balance or 10 transactions a month or there is a $7 fee. It was incredibly easy to set up, so much easier than in the UK. Cards were sent to our home address and we set up the PIN number in the bank. The lady who set it up for us also gave us all the details to set up online banking and suggested we set it all up before we left the USA and if we had any problems go back to her.

We set one up with the Wells Fargo on Old Lake Wilson Rd as it’s 5 minutes from our villa. We do need a balance of $1500 to maintain free banking though. Took about an hour to set up and needed driving licence and passport.

As the lady put in my name and first line of our UK address, she said that I was already known to them as my business has a stock funding line with Wells Fargo so they must have a single worldwide database.

Very helpful lady and all account details and debit cards arrived at our UK address in a week.

I love the laziness of the drive thru ATM.

I have been using Center State bank for the past ten years, and no complaints at all.

Very good service, and the staff are always willing to help you.

We used to be with Sun Trust for a number of years and then their charging schedule changed on the account we had so that we seemed to be paying a monthly fee and several ancillary charges as well.

We’re now very happy Centerstate customers as Mark has said they are extremely helpful, from an excellent call centre to the friendliest bank staff you could imagine.

Very happy to recommend them

Regards

Gary
