How long after interview till I’ll hear?
I had an interview on 6th nov, I think it went ok and was feeling quite hopeful, was advised that they had more interviews the following week so they’d be in touch the week after (this week), then last wed 13th they phoned and asked if they could get in touch with my line manager for reference, I had originally put on my application not to contact prior to interview, I advised this was now ok and reason was I wasn’t wanting current employer aware I was job hunting at that time. I’ve still not heard anything and I’ve spoken to my manager and she’s not had any reference request either, all seems a bit strange or am I just being impatient, interview 2 weeks ago, ref request 1 week ago and still no contact, just seems to have been going on forever, surely they wouldn’t have asked about reference if I wasn’t in with a good chance but the longer it’s taking the more likely it’s a rejection, although I’ve not received the rejection email either
Do I chase, wait (un)patiently or forget it and move on ? I just want to know one way or another Edited at 10:58 AM. |

What job was it?
The reason I ask is many different business have different techniques. |

If it's anything in the NHS the system used for processing these requests is slow and really annoying so this timeframe wouldn't surprise me. It drives me nuts when we are trying to recruite.

I personally would chase up, especially as they’ve asked for a reference. I’ve never heard someone doing a reference before offering the job before, to be honest!

It’s the local council so that’s probably why!
I wonder if the reference is as I’d originally said not to contact before interview and they just want to confirm why I didn’t what them contacted and there are no issues with my manager before they offer me the position, But you’d think they’d either have contacted me again by now or atleast contacted my references? Hopefully I’ll hear today |

i Would definitely be expecting to hear more than this if I had been interviewed on 6th October; that’s nearly 7 weeks!
