planning nightmare

the 2 of us had originally booked to stay at pop century 16 to 30th sept 2020 with breakfast offer for £1722

have been looking at flights from Manchester to Orlando for sept 2020 with virgin as we have a companion seat and 70,000 miles ( combination of 55,000 mine and 15,000 wife)

unfortunately at the moment there are no direct reward flights for sept as advised by the flying club

so I looked at June 2020 15th to 29th and there is availability for direct flights from Manchester to Orlando using rewards.

cost is £355 each for economy classic out and premium home ( + 10,000 miles each should we want to upgrade to premium on the way out.this price includes moving the 15,000 miles from wifes account into mine.

pop century for June date would increase by £728 for June dates

looked at all stars sport and to change and keep breakfast its an additional £250

I don't know wether to edge my bets and book all stars as a new booking ( without breakfast) with a £50 deposit for June 2020 and book the flights with virgin and leave the pop century booking open for sept

that way if flights do become available for sept I can call virgin and get them to move the dates for £30 each and have pop century and cancel all stars for June

what do you think

I’d be prepared to pay the extra £50 odd per day to stay at Pop over Sports but that’s personal preference.
I would hold off booking the All Stars just yet, wait until after Christmas and see what reward seat availability looks like then.
We moved our reward flight booking from March to November with Virgin and it was very easy.

I also would stick to Pop and Septt. June is so hot and busy with all the US kids off.
I think flights will come.
BTW, that breakfast is a standard daily QS credit including an alcoholic drink- was great value on our last trip.

I think you are right. It seems Sept flight will become available to those that hold there nerve. I think if june next year has availability then Sept will follow as it's a quieter month
Yea we went in june one year and it was far busier than Sept.
Will wait til the sales or nearer the time for flights

OP, what about going out on 20th September and coming back 6th October. Premium out, economy back, both direct flights. 35k miles + £1,216 in taxes (one reward flight, one cash booking). Then I'm sure if you called Flying Club they would help you to use your companion voucher against that in some way to reduce the miles?

There are now two direct reward flights in premium on 20th September - you can use your companion to upgrade instead of get economy miles 2-4-1.

Premium out on 20th September, economy back 6th October. You can use your voucher to upgrade both of you for 0 extra miles on the way out. I believe it should cost you around 50k miles + £775 in taxes.
