Car hire - could I get away with this

Or is it wholly inappropriate.

Alamo brits 30 June - 14 July £450
Alamo brits 1 July - 14 July £750

We fly out on 1 July. Could I book the vehicle from 30 June but be 24 hrs late in picking it up.

UPDATE

Alamo will cancel booking if I don’t pick up within 12 hrs of original pick up time. So it’s a big no no

That's some difference. I would be tempted.

Check the T&Cs as you’ll find there are usually late pick up fees.

I think that you will find that this is treated as a no-show if you do not pick up on the date specified and you may loose all your money. It may be better to get a taxi to where you are going and pick up the next day from downtown somewhere as it would not cost the difference in hire charges. That way you do not risk loosing your booking and money.

Drop Alamo an email and ask about their late pickup policy. I presume it'll be the same policy as through other 3rd parties and they'll say they allow 24 hours, although I've had customers pickup nearly 48 hours late without any issue.

1st July is the first day of their new peak season surcharge which is the reason for the massive price difference.

UPDATE

Just arrived and saved £300
June 30 cost £406
July 1 cost £735

Booked with Avis for 30 June for two weeks.
Arrived 1 July and told a little whit lie about an overnight delay in UK.
No problem Sir was the answer and after a little bit of paperwork we were on our way.

I did tweet Avis before hand and they responded saying a 24 hour delay would not be a problem; I had tweet ready to show if questioned.

One happy bunny am I.

Shame they don't allow you to be 23 days late for pick-up

I could have saved a few quid for our upcoming trip

OP, well done. Did you try 1-15 July? It may have been that there were discounts for 2 week rentals.
