There is rumour of a night time parade coming for the 50th in 2021 or possibly before.
There was speculation that Paint the Night might be brought across from Disneyland CA but as they are now reviving that parade at California Adventure that won't be happening. It seems a new parade may be in development but it's going to be a while before we see it.

Controlling crowds from firework viewing to parade set up isn't that difficult. They are skilled at it. Amazing what some ropes here and there can do. They manage this quite well on the Halloween and Christmas party nights

During our last visit we noticed how getting out of MK was horrendous after HEA. Huge crowds all trying to get to the monorail or ferry at the same time.

They could do with something to reduce congestion - like leaving the park open a little longer.

That sucks... we always used to spend our final evening going to watch Wishes, then staying for the late parade, then heading home.
Main Street Electrical Parade made its last appearances in 2016 and then headed back to California. I agree the park needs something at night besides the fireworks.

They do use the lower Main Street back stage area on occassions to relieve exiting crowds on Main Street. This will become a permanent addition once they have built the new theatre for big shows based on Willis Wood theatre in 1920s Kansas City. The side street on the right (facing castle) off Main Street will lead to this area:

That's very interesting but until they stagger departure times there will still be a mass exodus for transport just after HEA. Needs some work, imho

I agree. We never make a bolt to leave the park. Having no kids it's not a problem. We sit down and watch the masses struggle down Main Street. Give it 20 minutes and things start to thin out. I wonder how many have actually stayed to witness the "Kiss Goodnight" at the castle. It's only a 2 minute thing but it closes a day at the park perfectly.
You can then stroll down at leisure to the exits. We normally stay at BLT so it's another short stroll to our beds.

There was once upon a time show on the castle last week after HEA. Made getting out of Mk so much easier.

That's not the actual reason though. The average number of people watching the MK fireworks now is not significantly different to the average number one year ago (i.e. before HEA). More importantly Disney stopped the Electrical parade 7 months before HEA even started.

So clearly removing the parade has nothing to do with the HEA crowds. They've managed to put a parade on previously.

Disney originally stopped the electrical parade at WDW in order to move it over to Disneyland for a while. It is assumed that they haven't replaced it with anything else due to cost considerations (I suspect removing the electrical parade has had little to no effect on attendance numbers at MK and therefore why bother spending money to replace it if the same number of people are still visiting MK).

The crowds leaving MK after the fireworks have always been horrendous. It's not like it's a new thing since HEA. If anything, for the last year Disney has put the projection show (Once Upon a Time) after the firework show in an effort to stop a few people from leaving MK straight after the fireworks...

...and perhaps it helps a little.

As far as I remember, Once Upon a Time has been around 45 minutes after the firework show since it started.

Ok everyone don’t shoot the messenger , only passing on what we were told by a cast member, of course Disney aren’t going to admit cutbacks or cost savings to anyone . You only have to visit to see that is apparent everywhere you go within Disney .

No shootings here. Often CMs come out with all sorts of stuff which proves to be nonsense at the end of the day. Only the top notch bods know exactly what is going on.
