when to book virgin reward miles flights

hi

I am looking to book flights for 21 dec approx and return approx 6 jan with virgin miles - i have only ever used miles on the old flying reward system where i paid miles one way and cash return but you cant do that anymore

therfore my question is do i still book a one way flight with my miles as soon as my dec flights are released and then book the return miles flight for jan when that is released? or am i better to wait for a full return flight to book all at the same time?

hope that makes sense

thanks for any help

We recently booked flights for August. I waited about 3 days before my return flights were due to be released and then rang the Flying Club. They let me hold my outbound whilst waiting for the return to become available, then I booked both ways in one go. They were extremely helpful over the phone.

Booking peak time reward flights is a lot harder these days. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to when they release them like there used to be. Best bit of advice I can give is to check as often as you can after the flights are released and book one ways as soon as they come available. The xmas/new year ones will go straight away.
