If Harry Potter is your main aim, remember Express Pass doesn't let you skip the queue in any Harry Potter attraction.

Also don't buy Express in advance - if the park is busy when you arrive you can always buy it on the day.

I've just saved £1279 by taking universal off our plans. We came to the conclusion it was ridiculous for 2 days &£300 fir 1 night stay . Am I going to miss it? Simple answer yes but I just cannot justify that amount of money for 2 days. We haven't done seaworld for 4 yrs so looking forward to doing that.

We usually spend 4 days every trip in Universal 2 days in each park, we love the rides and Harry Potter, you can waste an hour getting in to the park so I would enjoy Disney and do Universal next time

I could not spend that amount on one day. We did only Universal last time. This year I was originally going to do a week in each but the ticket cost of even doing that was silly, so it is just Disney this year. I think we will continue to alternate in the future ( assuming we like Disney as never been before).

We're skipping US/IOA too as it would cost us £900 for the 14 day tix and only slightly less for 1/2 days in the parks (which we'd only do anyway). It's a ridiculous amount of money to spend for 2 days in a theme park. Unfortunately, this holiday will be our last one as a family as it's just too expensive so our girls will have to miss it. I'm more sad as I'm the massive HP fan and I've not seen the US HP part yet

We'd always had the 5 park ticket in years past, I wish they would bring that back, it was far better value. We are now considering revisiting SeaWorld/Aquatica and Busch Gardens as that represents better value, esp with free parking.

Agree it is a lot of money and I am not sure if you have included the tax in your calculations. Universal US website quotes prices pre tax. You have to put them in your cart and go through to the next screen to see them with tax included.

I wouldn't bother for that money.

Universal are starting to price themselves out of the market to be honest. Just looking at this thread shows lots of people have dropped it.

Yes some will choose it over Disney but the majority won't. We go on all the rides and to be honest even then we only need a day tops in each park.

We have dropped universal from our plans too for exactly the same reason. I wouldn't consider going to universal in August without having express passes and the hotel prices are so much higher than in previous years that along with the ticket price means no universal this time. We are doing Disney this time for the first time in 4 years whereas last 2 visits only a one day ticket to magic kingdom each time. Think we will be either universal or Disney going forward. We will be returning to seaworld etc. but that is very reasonable for a 14 day ticket

I've just read this thread with interest as we are shocked at the price to get into Universal. 2a 3c over £1000. And we can't really do a lot of rides as they are 9, 6, 4 & 1 but I know they would love the other things at universal - esp HP.

I'm not sure I can justify it at their ages... do people not sell odd day tickets from those booth on the side of the road anymore. I think I'm going to have to give it a miss too.
