Mobile Alamo- double charged?!

Hi all
I rented a SUV through Alamo Brit for 14 nights in Oct and prepaid in Dec 2016.

The car was rented in my husband name with me as the second driver.

I collected the car and asked to prepay for the fuel.

I have got my credit card bill today and have been charged $680.

I assume they have double charged me.

I have tried to call the office( website site says open til 8pm) but office is shut

I have emailed them.

Stupidly I have binned the rental agreement 😣 but do have the email confirmation on pre pay and booking.

Any suggestion on if I should be doing anything else?

What a pain ...

It does happen. What did your rental agreement say as you left the garage?
Maybe you cant recollect now though. However they will soon amend the error with a quick E Mail quoting the reference number and attaching the original confirmation showing it was pre paid.

Thank Tom. Was hoping you were around.
I have now spoken to them and the fee is for a one way drop off in Michegan fee. 4 days after we picked up.

I have explained it wasn’t us and luckily I took a photo of the car on my phone( to upload on dibb) they are now escalating to a manager.

I’m kicking my self that I didn’t take a photo of the licence plate or get any sort of receipt when dropped off.

There is a positive that I was charged for toll on the way to the airport on the 28th

😣😣😣

Michigan! That would have been a long drive!
However that's working in your favour as it's such a ludicrous scenario that they will soon sort it.
However it does leave a bitter taste in the mouth doesn't it.
Of course you can get your credit card company to put the payment as 'in dispute' if it drags on and the onus is on Alamo to prove the point not you.

Thanks Tom. That’s a great suggestion re credit card company.
They say that a manager will contact me with 24-72h so I’ll give until Friday and then follow up. 👍

So... called today to query this again as had no response to email and was told the charge had been removed. No apology, no sorry we are wrong!
However I have been charged $53.77 Priv fee recov chg 10 PCT ?
I though all charges were covered in my Alamo Brit rental?

Does anyone know?
Would also like to have a moan about lack of feedback- any suggestion on who to write to?

Brits is zero to pay unless you add extras such as bring back empty, child seats etc.

In your first post you say you wanted to pre pay for fuel. That amount sounds like the fuel option to me.

Bear in mind any extras have the airport fee added which shows as Priv fee.

No it’s not the fuel - we were charged $44 for that.

It is the priv fee recovery chg which is stated as being coveted by Alamo Brit.

Just had a frustrating phone call with them where they say I need to speak to the TA ( eh Alamo Brit) as not booked through them.

So that’s tomorrow job them. So frustrating 😣😣
