If this is true they must have fiddled something. They definitely call it and market it as a Business Class.
Not sure about non-US flights though.

The key to this is the APD. That means the seat is taxed at a higher rate thus anyone downgraded is entitled to a 75% refund.

This will help you. Contained withing Section D of their T & C's

Thomas Cook Airlines ‘Premium Seats’ (Long Haul Only) The Premium Seats comprise of extra leg room and a wider seat and some additional benefits advertised at the front of the relevant brochures. Premium Seats are subject to availability, restrictions may apply

The expression 'hoisted by their own petard' leaps to mind.

So nothing really to do with "class" at all - rather the APD level paid. So I guess different countries operate different APD structures so each country will be different.

It's from the CAA report so all UK flights.

Aer Lingus Transatlantic flights are not UK flights.
Only from Ireland and business us booked using nirmalnJ class etc business classes.

Aer Lingus UK flights however, are only one class Cabins.

Gather your evidence. It sounds like the precedence has been set.
Good luck.
I'd be livid not the best at flying ( claustrophobic + fibromyalgia) so really the only way I can get on a long haul flight is knowing I have the space.
I think I'd have a panic if it changed.

When you look at the list my view is that you can pay extra for legroom, first on and off etc but the seats are the same, the service is the same so just paying g for a second bag.

However when you travel premium economy you are paying for a wider seat, less seats in the row, a better service as less passengers in that part of the cabin, alcohol is different, food service is different, baggage allowance is different etc.. this is clearly as different class and Thomas cook offers this on long haul.
