It is expensive but as others have said it is a fantastic experience.
If getting the money together for it is difficult then I would say leave it as a to do some other year. I think you said your DD is 6 so there would be plenty of scope to do this at a later stage. Whenever you decide to do it just be sure that your DD is comfortable in deeper water. I went in with my DS and DD and they were all oh you can go first with the Dolphin mum. When we swam further out in the pool to the deeper end I knew they were starting to worry so had to keep talking to DS while DD went first with the Dolphin, when DS got his turn (second) I think he had a vice grip on the poor Dolphin.

We had a fantastic day there and would love to go back but every time I look at the ticket prices I can't seem to justify it.

Same here. We've been and done it, but would need a lottery win to get us back there.

Done it twice now - one without the dolphin swim (mum, DD & niece did it as DS was too young) and 2nd time we did the swim the 4 of us.
Been to Orlando 4 times now so not a definite "must trip" for us but definately worth considering for something special or if it's a definate "once in a lifetime trip" - when you factor in the Busch / Seaworld / Aquatica tickets then it can make it a good deal but you need to weigh up the costs with what you could get in a Universal ticket package etc and then go from there. The day itself is an absolute peaceful haven in a hectic holiday and we loved every second of it - well, apart from DD who refuses to now go in the tropical lagoon after a fish swam past and brushed against her leg on the first trip (she's now 14 and is still terrified of fish) - that stress makes it an awkward day for us now as we have to constantly split up as DS loves the lagoon and she feels bad for us not being able to do it together etc but if we can get round that would certainly do it again! I think it is expensive, I could afford to do it but really can't bring myself to spend my money on that.
If I had the chance to swim with dolphins I think I'd prefer to do it in the open sea. The upkeep of Discovery cove must be very expensive so I suppose that's why they charge so much.

We've booked again this year (did it last year as well) and it is expensive, took me a long time to convince OH to do it again, but well worth it I think

I am thinking of booking for our trip in June which will be high season and working out very expensive IMO at £700 for four of us but I really really want to do it, if we book and its raining or a really bad day would they allow us to change dates or do we just have to go on that date?
