Hi we did it by coach last year so imagine it would be even better driving up there. You could stay late for the sunset, stop off to eat en route and spend a lot longer there than we did... in my opinion it was still worth every penny just to swim in that sea and a trip on Seascreamer was brilliant!

Hi
We drove to Clearwater twice last year just for the day. We were staying in a villa just of highway 27 and it took about 2 hours each way as i recall. Well worth the trip. Swam in the luke warm water and actually had a dolphin swim past about ten meters away. Parking was a bit of a nightmare but we didn't set out until quite late in the morning. Liked it so much that we are staying there for two nights when we arrive in just over 3 weeks.

Hi

We did it last year. Spent most of the at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium with our dolphin loving DD. Took about an hour and a half in the morning to get there. Took about 4 hours to get back! Apparently Fridays during F&W are quite busy if you are heading to Orlando

Definitely worth it - love Clearwater. Get up early to make the most of the day as it is a couple of hours drive. This year we ended up getting a cheapish motel and stayed over. Had a lovely meal by the beach watching the sunset

Can I ask what price a cheapish hotel is in Clearwater? We're going on our 4th Florida visit next year but our first using a villa and car so plan to drive to the coast. Stopping over sounds nice!

Hi - we stayed at Island Cay which was only a two min walk to the beach. Two bedroom apartment for the 4 of us, with kitchen area was £100 ( including tax). We only booked few days before we travelled as we wanted to make sure it would be good weather to fully enjoy Clearwater. Given it was in August we felt it was good value. Went via booking.com that showed all accommodation. Sure you could do it cheaper if went a little bit out of town, so still close enough. We would definitely do that again. Enjoy !

One other recommendation - we went on the Little Toot boat to find Dolphins. Great trip and we had lots of dolphins following us. Was a bit of a highlight !
