Mobile Ferry crossings

Hi,

Does anyone know if you get to Dover really early, will they put you on an earlier ferry? DH wants to leave really early just in case we hit issues on the way so hoping we'll manage an earlier crossing.

was a while ago but we have been put on earlier crossings. Don't know if the rules have changed though.

I think they probably would. We had the opposite experience though - arrived at Calais two hours before our ferry, but the queue to go through security was over a mile long and took over two hours to get through, so we ended up late (along with pretty much everyone else). Each company was just loading everyone onto whatever ferry was ready as they drove in, whether they were early / late / on time.

I'd guess that if there are spaces on an earlier ferry when you arrive, they'll ask if you want to go on it. We were early for our Eurotunnel shuttle on the way out, and had the option of getting one of the earlier trains when we checked in, as they had spaces.

It all depends on capacity. You can ask to go on an earlier sailing and if there are spaces, they might put you on one.

I think the key thing is, you need to ask.
