Best Cameras and Editing Apps

We are thinking about videoing more of our next trip and putting together a video blog/vlog

Problem is I am a total novice at this and have no idea where to start.

I know many of you do this and so am looking for advice on what the best cameras are to use? is a Go-pro the best to have or are there better?

Secondly, what then are the best editing apps to put this all together? something that is easy to use and won't cause me too much stress putting it together

Thanks in Advance

have a look at hitfilm express for a decent free editing package (you can upgrade to hitfilm pro, or just add on any specific modules you may want, but the basic free version is enough for most people to get started with)

as for cameras, how long is a piece of string. what sort of budget do you have, what sort of filming do you want to do, do you need waterproofing, optical zoom (if so, how much), how big/bulky can you handle? do you want 4k, or is 1080p ok?

for most people, a decent mobile phone is plenty. and maybe a knock-off gopro like the SJ4000 - amazon/SJCAM-Multi...nguag e=en_GB

i'm currently eyeing up an insta360 camera. theres some fantastic bullet time style effects you can do with it - amazon/Insta360-Fl...nguag e=en_GB

We started with a Panasonic TZ60 and a GoPro Hero 3. Those can be had for not too much cash.

Moved on to a G7X MK2 and a GoPro 7 Black nowadays. But could probably easily get by on a mobile phone and often do for home vlogging.

I use cyberlink power director for editing... Kept my eyes on humble bundle to get them at cheap prices, but they don't come up on there super often.

Editing is usually the lions share of the work with vlogging but I keep things pretty simple.
