Mobile BA Heathrow to Orlando will this change back to Gatwick? Thoughts

Hi. Iíve found flights LHR MCO. Iím travelling from Liverpool for this. I was just wondering before I book, is there a chance that BA will switch back to Gatwick?
Just curious as this extends my drive somewhat.
Thank you in advance.

When I looked to book for this aug there were 2 flights per day from lgw and 1 from Heathrow, we would have loved to book the Heathrow one but it was double the price!

I have the exact opposite to this where the ones I am looking at are cheaper from LHR

However I accept it's probably all down to supply and demand

No one knows to be honest - anything could happen and yes/no posts would be pure speculation. Good luck and hope you get sorted with your proposed holiday.

Supply, demand... and the ability of the ticket purchasers to travel as stated. I believe that many will be speculatively purchasing tickets right now as
1. BA seem to have some good prices.
2. BA are first to release at 350 days
3. BA have rather generous movement/ rebooking of these flights to a later date, thus removing risk.
4. One DIBBERS has been candid in that his family have booked two deals for 2021 in the sure knowledge that they will reschedule the early one to 2022 if they cannot go... or reschedule the later one to 2022 in the event that they can.
5. Many are holding credit notes or refunds from their 2020 attempts and when the restrictions ease, there will be a crazy rush and Airlines pricing through the roof.
6. Many are eying the exchange rate and buying now out of caution as buying later might be at a dramatically reduced exchange rate (think Brexit).

Me? I can only travel in August as my son will be sitting A levels and I do not want his studies distracted.
My flights were purchased cash on release at 1.33 with BA and I can now reschedule if the madness continues.
My Hotels, despite many having Ďpay on arrivalí are booked and paid for with free cancellation. That includes the car hire. I also still have $4000 plus in dollars.
In short, I would commit and pay up at the current rate, but actually risk nothing as I would use everything in 2022 as a worst case Scenario.

Weíre the A levels not an issue, then I would have arranged and paid for both Easter and Summer, fully intending to defer one or other to 2022.

All these issues clearly make it very difficult for BA to predict take up of purchased seats... and then we have the Government changing crucial policies on a weekly basis.

I've got a food friend who is a BA pilot - currently still furloughed, but fortunately not been made redundant.

Essentially Heathrow is their priority for everything and won't look at flying regularly from other airports if the same route isn't full / busy at Heathrow. My friend flies from London City - which is why still furloughed as Heathrow is the priority.

I imagine they would need very large demand from Heathrow to consider going back to Gatwick on an Orlando route. I personally can't see them going back to Gatwick-Orlando anytime soon - but thats just a guess from the little I know

On my dates there are two flights from Gatwick and one from Heathrow.

Find it strange that the afternoon flight departs from both airports at the same time arriving in MCO at the same time. From this I think only one will operate but have no idea which one.

Hedging their bets I suppose. Assuming one of them will be changed at some point.

Iím very tempted but itís a long drive home so Heathrow would be preferable

Thank you all for your info. Price seems too good to pass up so may go with it anyway.

Thanks again.

I think the plan is clear. If the world returns to normality and LHR becomes much closer to "full" the BA flights to MCO will revert to LGW. If it doesn't they'll keep it at LHR to consolidate and keep costs lower for the company. Interestingly for my dates the LHR option is showing significantly cheaper. If they end up switching it back to LGW then no problem as it's closer to home for me.
