Newcastle Airport info please.
Hi there
Can anyone tell me what it is like to fly from Newcastle Airport? Thinking in terms of - long stay parking and ease of getting to terminal, security and queues, amenities after security and what the airport lounge is like. Thanks Dibbers |

I like it. The long stay carpark isn’t far from the terminal. They have a shuttle bus but you could walk.
It’s a smallish airport. Security is generally ok. I’ve never had an excessive wait. Airside there are a number of shops and restaurants. Not a lot of seating that isn’t in a restaurant which is a recent change and can be frustrating. I haven’t used the lounge. My only gripe is they seem to wait until quite late to announce the gate. And there is plenty of seating at the gate. But I’ve never sat in it as it’s always straight onto the plane once the gate is announced. |

Newcastle is a great place to fly from. I thoroughly recommend the meet and greet. You drop your car right next to the airport and it’s literally a 30 second walk up the ramp straight into the terminal. I wouldn’t use anything else when we fly from there.
The premier inn there is also walking distance. Kat

We've been from Newcastle once and, being local, loved the lack of travel to and from the airport. Having flown from Heathrow, Manchester and Glasgow it was so nice to fly back to the UK and be home 20 minutes after leaving the airport. I must admit the amenities in the airport were better at Heathrow and Manchester (and also the flight price) but the closeness to home was the major factor with choosing Newcastle

One massive bonus is luggage is usually really quick to collect on the way home compared to bigger airports. Maybe unlucky but always wait much longer at Manchester.

only done it once (as manchester normally our choice) for a fly cruise (2015), got to say the whole experience (M6 A69) travel meet & greet parking and facilities in the airport were excellent. if another deal came up from there would have no hesitation to use.

We have flown from Newcastle many times. Its a great small airport. The long stay carpark is a short walk from the terminal or you can hop on the shuttle bus.
Security is normally fairly quick. There is a handful of shops and restaurants airside. The only issue we've had is finding a seat when its busy. We are going to book the lounge next time just to ensure we have somewhere to chill before the flight. |

Newcastle is our local airport. We use short stay 2 car park as you can walk to the terminal from there. We also book the lounge as there isn’t a lot of comfortable seating now in the airport. A few shops - duty free, boots, W H Smith, J D, Dixon’s, Accessorize, Cuba Lily. Greggs before you go through is ok for breakfast. Burger King in departures.

Tui have announced their Newcastle airport destinations for 2022 and as expected they still intend to move to Orlando Melbourne rather than Sanford.
