How old are your brother and your nephew? Have they been to Orlando before, but just not eaten onsite ?
We dont stay onsite, or do the DDP so any restaurant has to be pretty good to pay those prices cash for. There are many great restaurants in Orlando that cost less and which serve equally good, if not better, food. But the thing that Disney does do spectacularly is theming. Sci-fi diner for example, great and unusual theming, but only moderate to good food depending on how fresh/hot it is. We therefore pay extra to see a themed restaurant, or for a dining package that gets us something else like preferred seating for a show. So for me, it depends on the age group of the party, what theming you want and also if you know which park or area you want to try. If you want haute-cuisine there are limited options either way.
