The food is homely American 50s style food, meatloaf, fried chicken etc. We had the sampler platter and the 'smores which were really good.
We had read that a lot of adult-only parties, particularly Brits, weren't getting the full 'mom and pop' style service. Perhaps they think we are more reserved and don't want the fun. So we made sure when we checked in, that we told them we were up for some fun. Our server Janice was very dry and sarcastic, very funny indeed. She asked whether we wanted straws and then called for 'sissy sticks'! Unfortunately our food came out cold, so we called Janice over and explained that Mom's oven was obviously playing up. She took the food away, then brought us fresh plates of food. She and her colleague hovered over us with exaggerated 'anxious' faces until we said it was fine! Large parties, or those with children, do seem to get much more riotous interaction. And from what I hear it is much toned down in recent years, as they had too many complaints from guests who didn't understand what was happening. It was still fun though. And the food was better than Sci-Fi Dine In by a mile. That was fun to do for the theming, but our food was seriously nasty.

We were really disappointed I'm afraid. Unfortunately we'd seen lots of really funny clips on YouTube, so we were expecting a good laugh, but or server just wasn't much fun.
My kids were really trying to get "told off" and I could see them putting their elbows on the table, or taking their phones out, and trying to catch her eye, but she wasn't having any of it. I think it very much depends on who you get, but for us it was a big waste of time, and TS Credit. |

This is one of our favourites but there is usually a long wait even with an adr. Yesterday was nearly an hour before we were seated and the waiting area can be rather claustrophobic Next to Chefs de France this is where you can expect the longest wait.
Had the chicken pot pie this time - very nice. The server was also very good and had us out in front of everyone scalding us for elbows on the table - again. |
