From NY to LA - Day 11 - Yet more Vegas!

7th September

Decided to go to Bellagio for breakfast today so used the Ace bus as we bought 24hr tickets for $7 last night. You have to buy the tickets from the machine at the bus stop first.

This hotel was beautiful. There were huge floral displays in the conservatory and if we'd have walked further on we'd have seen a massive chocolate fountain (according to my DM later!)

The queue for the buffet was massive so we walked through the hotel and into The Mirage. We ended up doing the brunch thing again as they started bringing lunch out when we were there. Ok - you get lunch for the price of breakfast - but I missed out on pancakes! I didn't have any all through the holiday

We had a look around the hotel and debated going into the secret garden to see the white lion cubs and dolphins but decided to give it a miss.

We walked through Treasure Island and eventually got to Fashion Square Mall. (It has a bit which looks like a spaceship!)

Our first stop was to get tickets for Jersey Boys which was in the Palazzo across the road. Our tickets were still not cheap - $107 each - but we saved $60 on the normal price.

We went into the mall and bought DS a watch for his 21st birthday and DD a Pandora bracelet with a few charms including one which was for an 18th birthday - very pretty.

Then we went across the road via Wynns to change the voucher for tickets at the Palazzo which is by the Venetian.

A few pics in the Wynn

We got our tickets outside the Venetian and went on the Ace to the Stratosphere.

While we were on the bus I got talking to a woman who was very concerned as she couldn't find the World Trade Centre and she'd been around on the bus twice. I told her that I'd seen something called the World Trade Market - and that maybe that was it? She told me she was off to meet a client ... and to be honest she didn't look as if she was going to a boardroom meeting - more a bedroom one if you know what I mean!

Yet again very friendly elderly lift attendants and soon we were at the top! Great views!

There were signs on the windows "Do not lean on the glass"! As if!

There are a couple of choices for tickets here. I had one to the observation deck, DD had one for 1 ride and DH and DS had one for 3 rides.

They all went on the Big Shot - and DH and DS went on the one that spins you over the edge (Scream) and the one that shoots out over the edge (Insanity)! Not many pics as I had the video camera too!

When we came back to earth we bought a yard of strawberry daquiri in a plastic "glass" shaped like the Stratosphere (lol) and we went to wait for the bus. When one came along the driver wouldn't let me on as I was drinking alcohol! So we all tried gulping it down and ended up with brain freeze - but he had to go

We caught the next bus - which meant that we only had 15 mins to get ready at MGM before we went out to catch the bus to see Jersey Boys!

It was a brilliant show! Surprised at how many of the songs we all knew.

After the show we went across to Treasure Island to catch the show but it was just finishing - then up to the Mirage - but we just missed that too. We decided to nip into McDonalds for a snack to eat and we waited there until just before the volcano show as DDs back was playing up again. The spectacle is very dated now - especially when you compare it with some of the thing's we've seen in WDW. We carried on walking up the the Bellagio and DH waited to see the fountains in the dark but the rest of us carried on as it was easier for DDs back if we kept moving. I went back to the room with the kids and then picked up a voucher we had been given for $15 to be spent in the hotel. I met DH in one of the casino bars - 2 beers came to $15 - so then we called iot a night after another busy day!

DM, Df and their friends had also had a lovely day and had had lovely meals in Hooters across from MGM - also beers were only $1.50!

I couldn't manage the rides on top of the Stratosphere either - it was bad enough looking out of the windows! Shame your DD's back was playing up .

I couldn't even contemplate doing the rides, getting to the top of the Stratosphere was an achievement for me! Another fun packed busy day.
