Jean and Barbara do Zurich...day 2 Mount Titlis
Sunday
today was our big day out. We were going up to the top of Mount Titlis, 10000 feet above sea level! We had a lovely boiled egg breakfast in the hotel then we slowly walked towards the bus which was behind the main station. We boarded our bus and got the front seat which was handy for photos along the way. We went through a very scenic route towards Lucerne where we had a stop for an hour. We firstly walked as a group to see the Lion monument in the wall. It was really good. This is a lovely place and we walked along the Chapel bridge Some beautiful paintings on the roof of the bridge We then had a coffee at Starbucks and watched the world go by. We sat outside which was surprising when you could see the icicles on the building.

We strolled back towards the coach and then we were on our way again going to Engleberg via Mount Rigi and Pilatus. The scenery along the way was amazing and the photos were taken through the coach window so could be better.
Just before we got to Engleberg we got pulled over by the police. They were doing random checks on coaches I think as there were a few coaches parked up. Luckily for us everything was in order. I felt sorry for the passengers on one of the other coaches as there seemed to be a problem with them. Anyway we carried on and we arrived at Engleberg via some scary mountain roads. I have great admiration for our driver. We then got firstly in a small cable car which was fab as there was just me and Barbara in this one so we could relax and admire the amazing views. Then we went in a large communal one a bit further up then we finally got in the rotating one to get to the top of the mountain. Sadly it was misty when we finally got the the very top. There is a cafe here and an ice grotto and an ice flyer. The ice flyer is outside and it is sort of like a large chair lift. I was determined to have a go even though I am petrified of heights. Barbara suffers from asthma so was not sure how the air would affect her. Anyway out we went and Barbara didn't get too far when she was gasping for air so she had to turn back. I was carrying on till I actually saw the flyer. It was so misty and snowing quite hard you would not be able to see anything so I decided to chicken out and headed back to see if Barbara was ok. After a little sit down inside she was fine, so we did some photos to prove that we had been there then we had a little look round the ice grotto which was inside the mountain We went to the cafe and had a drink. We sat looking out of the window at a digger in the snow. he seemed to be moving the snow from one pile to another! Then it was time to descend back down the mountain using the three cable cars and yet a few more photos! We then jumped on the coach which took us back to Zurich. We decided to eat in the hotel as we were both shattered and we had a voucher for 20% off! We had beef stroganoff with rosti once again then back to our room to see Ann Widdecombe finally get kicked out! Before a lovely hot bath and bed.
