Can’t wait to stay here in August/September, but we plan to eat there in January to get a taster!
You will love it!
The hotel just feels so clean, fresh and modern and the buffet last night was really good- there was an Italian section, American and then Chinese and all of it was nice especially the desserts and I’m not a dessert person!

Going to the Manhattan restaurant tonight so will let you know what that is like later.

Day 2

This morning was our first day in the parks and we were so excited.
We had one last breakfast at Magic circus (thank god) before we went back upstairs to collect our bags and load up the car.
While we were in the buffet though we did enjoy watching a poor boiled egg being kicked around the floor and seeing who would notice it and who wouldn’t.
Very childish and we probably should have told someone incase someone slipped on it but tbh it had got quite competitive so we didn’t even think to tell anyone 😳
Entertaining as it was (by the end it was obliterated and a staff member cleaned it up so no accidents!) we left and checked out.
We drove the 4 mins to Hotel New York and checked in.
It smells so fabulous in here, like a Vegas casino without the cigarette smoke. Wish I knew what the scent was!

Our room wasn’t ready but we left our cases in the car as you can’t see into the back anyway and we made our way to Disneyland Parc.
Phantom manor was first on our list and the queue was so huge it was outside the gates and round the side so Chris paid €7 each via the DLP app for premiere access and we walked straight on, absolutely worth it!

We love this ride and the Wdw version but the French one is definitely a darker theme, then we went over to Pirates , another family favourite and decided just to walk around and take it all in.
It was super busy, busier than last time we came at Halloween and possibly on par with the week before Christmas, this meant we were getting a bit bored so paid a visit to the Christmas shop and then went for lunch at Fuente del Oro where we had delicious burritos and some ‘meh’ churros.
After this we left the park as it was nearing 3pm check in time so we grabbed a Starbucks in the village and picked up the French mug as we didn’t have this one but the Disneyland and studio mugs were the same ones we already had.
Nice quick walk back to the hotel as it’s much closer than NPB (or so it feels!) and got our keys.
We are 3rd floor in Gramercy park.
The art everywhere is just second to none so dh sent some pictures back to our friends who are massive marvel fans and they were extremely envious.
The room is large and light very modern but won’t go over all that again as posted pictures previously.
We decided to go swimming just for something different and boy the pool is cold at first, there’s also nothing really interesting about it so we didn’t stay long and then came up and had showers.
Once we were dressed we went down to the Skyline bar and enjoyed some cocktails (also in the post above) and watched Ironman and spiderman zoom across the sky behind the bar..so much better than the space dog at the new restaurant In Epcot … 😂😉.
We were starving now and was time for our Downtown buffet reservation.
Lots of choice - American, Italian and Chinese.
The Chinese section and the Avenger desserts were my favourite.

Also enjoyed a nice red wine with dinner.
I noticed that we still had just under 2 hours till DLP closed so we grabbed our coats and headed to the parks.
One little annoyance I have is you have to have your health pass scanned every day in your hotel to get a new coloured band, you then have to get it scanned again by security at the entrance to Disney village, why?
It does only take seconds but still..
We queued for Phantom manor again then Big thunder which is so much better in the dark!
Peter Pan was our last ride and it’s as lovely as always!
By now we were really tired so back to the hotel and went to bed.

Another tropical room! What is it with Disney and their heating?!
Tomorrow is more DLP, DD’s first upside down ride (Hyperspace mountain) and dinner at Manhattan restaurant.
Thanks for reading!

Day 3

Really struggled to wake up this morning, all the walking was catching up with us which seems to be a theme on our holidays. We always joke that we go away for a rest but in reality we walk miles and miles and end up coming back more exhausted than when we left!
I’ve just checked my step counter app and it hasn’t recorded them for the last week which is annoying as we must have walked at least 6 miles the day we went into Paris but probably a lot more!
I didn’t sleep too well as my pillow from home just didn’t work well with the mattress which was quite hard so I had to sort of prop my arm under it most of the night but Dh and Izzy slept well so that’s something.
We got up at 7:30 as we had a breakfast slot at 8am so gave us just enough time to get washed and dressed.
They don’t mind if you’re early or late to breakfast and you can change your slot at the front seat of you want to.
Breakfast was ok, better than Magic circus but then Izzy and I aren’t breakfast people so I’m the wrong person to ask!
We did have a soggy Marvel waffle and dd had a kiwi fruit, some grapes and a slice of seeded bread with salted butter which is her favourite.
I had some chocolate cake 😳 and a couple of brioche buns which were delicious as the sausages were veal and chicken and I don’t eat veal, the scrambled eggs were also a bit ropey.
Dh was not happy that you had to boil your own eggs (boiled eggs are his European breakfast must have) as 1 it took ages and 2 you don’t know if they’re cooked enough till you sit down! Out of all the eggs he boiled for various times over our stay absolutely zero of them were cooked 😂 I thought it was hilarious but him not so much … one he left for 10 mins and it was still practically raw so I’m assuming the water wasn’t hot enough.
This was the delicious seasonal chocolate cake..

I’d love to say I got better at taking food pictures but I did not… it’s just not something that comes naturally to me I’m afraid 😬
We left and got today’s wrist band after having our covid app scanned and made our way through security which always looked worse than it was.
Didn’t take long to get into the park for our early entry and we headed over to thunder mountain which was down so phantom manor again it was! Much shorter queue this time so on in about 10 minutes.

Was a shame the castle is behind boards but the top just looks beautiful, it will look amazing when they’ve finished.
We decided to just walk around after this as not much was open yet

Pirates was up next, another favourite

Got to love Jack 😍

We saw the princesses go round in their little cavalcade and the song is so catchy we sang it all day even though it’s in French and the only French word we recognised was “Today” 🤣 it’s a proper tune though!

By now we were hungry and a burrito from Fuente del Oro was high on Izzy’s list as Mexican food is her favourite.
It was a good move as it was delicious! They’re quite pricey at €12 each but they’re quite big.
The chips were not worth the money though.. dry and tasteless even though they were covered in paprika

We finished up and headed back out to go over to Buzz and hyperspace mountain.
Dd has never ridden a ride that goes upside down before so her time had come! It was going to be Indiana Jones but the height requirement had gone up since our last visit so hyperspace it was!
We told her it just had one inversion but it actually has 3! Yes we are mean but luckily she loved it and we promised her a sleeping stitch if she did it 😅
My first ever upside down ride was nemesis at Alton towers when I was around 10/11 so I’m a firm believer of “go hard or go home!”
Over to buzz and dh as usual smashed our scores .. meh..here’s mine but I did better the next day!
Back over to Main Street and Maleficent’s dragon was out in all her fire breathing glory
.
The queue for thunder mountain was long now and we very rarely queue for anything over 35 mins so that’s meant a lot of just meandering about during this holiday as it’s much busier than our previous trips.
We decided to do the railway as it’s been closed so long at Wdw and it was just ok.
Not much to see and it just does a full loop so you can’t get off at Frontierland anymore but that’s fine by us.
Small world was a walk on and I do enjoy this ride, it’s not a favourite but it is very “Disney”
Feeling a bit peckish now so we had some popcorn before looking in the shops and heading back to the hotel

We got changed and went down to the bar again as I just love the “view” .
This time I had one of my favourites, an Aperol spritz
dh had a beer and dd had the same mocktail as yesterday.
Now it was time for dinner and tonight we were booked in at The Manhattan restaurant which is contemporary Italian.
Now, we are not fussy eaters, We love food and will try something new wherever we go but I was underwhelmed by the offerings of the set menu here, just one of the downfalls of the dining plan.
DD’s starter choice was bizarre to say the least .. do French kids really eat piles of what seems to be pickled aubergine and courgette?
It said “crudités” on the menu which are usually carrot and cucumber batons but this was like a cold ratatouille with a tasteless popadom on the top which was meant to be “Italian bread” .. hmm.
I ended up sharing my mozzarella and tomato with her and she also ate the bread with balsamic vinegar we were given when we sat down.
All the kids menus seem to have odd kids starters, I don’t get it. Captain Jack’s is just as bad which is why we didn’t book there again this year as the menu hasn’t changed for years.
Dh had lasagne for his main which shows how lame the options were as he’d never choose this normally ans I had sliced chicken breast with gravy and then they brought out roast potatoes which were cold .. very Italian as you can see! 🙄
I did mention the potatoes to our server and she did offer to get fresh ones but I wasn’t really going to eat them by this point as it was all just so underwhelming like i said.
We skipped dessert as we were tired and again the options were lame.. and went back upstairs grabbing two coffees to take with us.
Only picture I took 😳
you ca see the cubed veg in the background that we’d moved around the plate to make it look at least partly eaten!
I think if we were paying oop then the a la carte option would be much better as none of it seemed very Italian apart from the cannoli on the dessert menu and after the one I had from Buddy’s bakery in New York I knew that they were disgusting so didn’t even bother😆
We laid in bed and watched Regular show until 10 when we finally turned out the lights and went to sleep.
Studios tomorrow!
