40th Birthday Meal in NYC

Any recommendations for a nice (not too expensive) meal for hubbies 40th birthday in NYC. 2 adults, 11 year old and 14 year old. Cocktails would be nice! not too far from Times square as we are staying in Riu plaza

xx

Morton’s Steakhouse is nice. Also the River Cafe but it is quite expensive and me need to wear a jacket.

I second Robert as the view is amazing and the food was also very good.

I'd recommend not limiting yourself to the Times Square area though as it'll be more expensive, usually for less quality. Its so quick and easy to get elsewhere.

The West Village is so pretty at night time and has some great restaurants. We really enjoyed Little Owl and Cookshop. And The Dutch in Soho was also fun with interesting cocktails. This was a few years ago though so I'm not certain if all are still open.

The View is good for a special meal - rotating restaurant.
We also really enjoyed Brasserie Ruhlmann near the Rockefeller centre.
Or if you just want to go for a party atmosphere, rather than special food, which the kids will enjoy - Ellen's Stardust Diner.

We were in NYC 3 years ago celebrating our 40th birthdays (myself and 4 uni friends), also staying in Times Square. We went to Buddakan, it's in Chelsea market and a short Uber away.

We had the tasting menu and it was divine.
