Disney cruise jobs
So after applying to Disney last summer , my youngest daughter Katie, has been offered a job on the cruises out of Florida. If you're lucky enough to see her in the next few months please say hi, she'd love to chat. She's accepted a job as a lifeguard on the ship and it includes Castaway Cay and on board activities too. Just need to sort out work visas and medicals now then it's all steam ahead soooo excited for her.

Amazing! How did she go about applying if you don't mind me asking? My daughter (15 at the minute) would really like to apply to Disney but I have no idea where to start in trying to help her!

I think it was through yummy jobs last year, she applied for a job in activities centre but when she got to her interview they said there were now jobs for lifeguarding which includes all the deck activities and Castaway Cay. She has done 2 years at Camp America ( until Covid struck ) and already has an American SS number , don't know if that helped. She's so excited, like your daughter she had been looking since school and had actually given up hearing from them.

That's great news Fraggle and it sounds like you are both thrilled. When we were on the Disney Dream 6 yrs ago now we got talking to one young member of staff from Manchester. She said that although it was amazing to see places she had never been she felt that what they had been told about the job prior to going over wasn't how it actually was. I distinctly remember her saying she only had a half a day off a week. She did say though there was nothing to spend her money on so she was saving all her wages. She wasn't unhappy but she just said it wasn't the way she thought it would be. Now things could have changed a lot since. Has your daughter spoke to others who currently do a similar job?

That’s great news. My daughter had an interview last week but was advised she needed a bit more experience (she wants to do theatre technician work).
She’s going to try and get more experience and reapply next year. |

Thats fantastic news! I worked in Disney World in Florida (through yummy jobs) and it was hard work but really a great opportunity. I'm sure she will have a wonderful time!
