I agree. Pretty standard for Avis. If it was me I would just monitor it. No way can they charge for anything if the paperwork they give you shows zero. Apart from tolls etc.

I agree also. Whilst keeping an eye on our credit card online on our trip in June/July this year we noticed after changing car (we had 3 x 7day bookings) that there was a payment of around £70 pending despite having a zero balance. We figured it was most likely the $100 hold and upon checking again a few days later it was gone.

I'll make sure I check mine next year too as it's my first time with Avis. Thanks for the heads up.

We noticed the same thing a couple of weeks ago but after a few days the charge had disappeared and I've double checked since getting home and haven't been charged any extra. Ours was also with a BA Flydrive.

Update

Collected our first car last night and got a receipt with a balance of $257 to pay. I queried this and he said there is nothing to pay and that charge will drop off when I return it. We went and got our car a Kia Sorento which is nice but I went back and said it should say 0, he said again it was all prepaid but couldn't give me a receipt saying 0, he showed me the screen and it does say this at the bottom

Net payments $257.97
Prepayments $257.98 ref .01ta
Amount due .00

He said I am due a refund of 1 cent, then I asked him to print me that but he said he couldn't as they booking is open, he radioed his manager who was out in the garage and I heard his manager say exactly the same as I had just been told and it was all prepaid but he would be about 15 minutes if I wanted to see him.

I then asked if I could take a picture of the screen with all the info an showing 0 to pay and he let me do that so I have photo evidence at least. I am swapping the car next Saturday so will make sure my receipt says $0

I was going to wait for the manager but it 1945 and we were driving straight to St Petes beach so wanted to get on the road. Looking at the picture I have I am sure it is all paid

I think this issue needs to be put as a sticky as the web site is confusing.

Due to the way BA and Avis operate, you have paid in full on your BA booking and you get a voucher. However, due to the way BA and Avis contract works, Avis get paid when you present the voucher, so on `Avis web site the rental sum is showing as outstanding from BA, even though you have already paid.

Good post - it can be a bit confusing and I think a lot of people booked the BA flydrives this year due to the good prices
