Come to Cardiff City Centre! Fixed Penalty Notice for chewing gum, fag ends, litter etc. And rightly so.

its always in our local paper about people being fined for dropping litter and then they refuse to pay and it goes to court.

Also a fine. Prosecutions secondary for failure to pay. My point was the 'them and us' inference. I don't like it. No them. No us. Just all people who should be responsible for our behaviour based only on the criteria we are all human.

It's happening at the moment in my local area. They get moved off one site and appear nearby on another green area. If they looked after the area that they stopped on, they surely would live more peacefully without police and councils being involved all the time. Unfortunately because they can get away with it, they will keep on doing it. 🙁

Yes. Your chances of been prosecuted for dropping a crisp packet are zero though. You're making a different point now. I didn't suggest it wasn't an offence.

We've had similar here. They moved onto a school playing field after breaking in. Destroyed the goal posts and left human waste so out of action until the tax payers paid for decontamination and clearing all the rubbish.

It is definitely a case of them and us, they behave like that, we don't

Council served the eviction notice quickly and this morning - they'd all gone !

Trouble is, the place is such a filthy tip now, the council's had to go in and cut back all the bushes to get rid of the hidden rubbish, shifted tons of rubbish left lying around. Worst of all, they had to cordon off the children's playground area so they could 'decontaminate' it - I saw men in white jumpsuit thingies spraying the swings. Apparently it was littered with "human waste".

What sort of people (A) live like that, and (B) are happy to leave it behind for others to clear up ?
We had such an epidemic in Harlow a few years back (over 50 sites over 1 summer) the low point when they set up camp next to special needs school and the minibuses transporting disabled children were regularly attacked with rocks being thrown by the travellers kids. The council went to the high courts an we now have what is effectively permanent injunction against travellers and the police move have the power to move them on immediately. It's been hugely effective as we now rarely have travellers trying to settle. As far as I know this was the first and still the only one in the country. Surprised other councils haven't followed suit

Just returned from a little stroll along the beach and noticed they have moved into a local beauty spot
