Hi
I have described the work around in my post (look few posts up on this thread) "I have then done online check in at Alamo and it would not give me any option to do Skip the counter, so I have logged back into my online check in and in the address bar replaced "OCIview" with "bypass" and it worked, I was able to enter my credit card details and complete the booking. My print out now has bar code and says : Skip the Counter, Skip the Kiosk, Go directly to your car! " Hope it works for you. |

Just a quick note to say thanks for the tip regarding the OLCI url change to:
alamo/en_US/tourSite...in/bypass.html It was driving me potty that I couldn't find anywhere to enter my card details after I distinctly remember doing it with Alamo a couple of years ago Thanks again! |

OLCI for 35 day rental
I noticed in the sticky that a rental must be 30 days or less for OLCI but our booking for 35 days gives a link - is this correct or should I just not bother.
Managed the OLCI but no Skip the Counter for me Edited at 03:07 PM. |

Many months ago I took a screen shot of a post on here regarding skip the counter check in. I booked through netflights and following the instructions below have completed it and printed my barcode. The only thing I found different was at the bottom of the original Alamo screen I had a blue check in button instead of a payment button, I did not click on it but opened the skip counter screen as per the post and ta-da it worked.
Thank you so much for posting this, it is one stress off my mind when travelling alone with kids Hope it is ok to repost the thread here: Skip the counter. Although I have pre-paid I followed the general advice from Dan and specifically Saucer re Auto Europe. My reservation is not until late august but I thought I would give it a go: Step I, I got the Alamo reference from my Auto Europe confirmation Step 2, opened Alamo.com and clicked on reservations at the top and on the right of the next page clicked on find reservation, I entered my name and reservation number. Step 3, although it is 9 months away clicked on the online check in tab, I entered my DOB and licence details. Step 4, at the bottom of the page is a blue payment button as I pre-paid I was slightly dubious. I clicked it and you simply enter the card details, "of the card you will be using". (I missed this but you go to the Payment screen the amount was £0 so hit pay) Step 5, following the advice given by Saucer I did not hit the print agreement and go to counter option , while the online check in page is still open I opened google in a new tab and entered Alamo skip the counter. I opened the link and the form was already filed out with my details. Look for alamo.com/en_US/car-rental/checkin/bypass.html Step 6, agree to term and condition and hit the print button a new page opened with a printer friendly copy of the skip the counter agreement with bar code and instructions for collecting the vehicle. So 9 months before I go I have the bar code in hand thanks to all on here, it was surprisingly easy. I can’t remember if it was at step 2 or 5 but whichever, two boxes were pre-selected for insurance I declined the other two.

Hi
Like the sound of the Skip the counter -Alamo brits is coming in £300 more than VA and VH. Is there any advantage to booking with either VA or VH? I think VA gives FC miles and double miles when using VA credit card, but do both offer a simple online check-in and skip the counter process? Thanks EDIT- think I can answer my own question - no difference between the two as can use alamo/en_US/virgin.html to do the online check and skip the counter, so VA looks like the better option when factoring FC miles. Thanks for this, not cheaper for me but same price as Alamo Brits and I get the FC miles so no brainier!
Gonna wait to see if the exchange rate gets better though so hopefully prices will drop...
