We use Dublin from either London or Birmingham, we personally find the US customs at Dublin much easier than Orlando, and every time we gave gone, very quick
It’s easy to get from terminal one to two and vice versa.
The flight leaves around 15:00, but I lije to gave time between flights, so go early morning or tge night before, then use the lounge 51st and green after customs

Choice of connecting flights is either 5.5hrs or 2 hrs. Was hoping 2 hrs enough as we would have to be at airport 3.5 hours before check in which for the longer time in Dublin means 3.50am. Maybe flying to Dublin the night before might be the best idea?

2 hours is a bit tight and doesn’t leave you much wiggle room if your flight coming in is delayed esp in Feb when you can have weather issues.

In February I would pick the earliest flight especially coming from scotland with the possibility of bad weather and cancelled flights. It gives you the option of the second flight! We went via Dublin 2 years ago from Glasgow and they tried to bump is off the early flight but lucky for us the couple checking in next to us said they would take the later flight (and €300 each) which allowed us to make our connection.

Go the day before and stay at the premier Inn Dublin airport.
Take the stress out of it

Going the night before would be good, but you don't need to be at the first airport that early, it's not an "international" flight as such.

I would suggest flying the evening before, stay at the premier inn and you can get to and from the hotel by the local bus 1 Euro, per adult return.

I would say 2 hours is too tight. There was a lady one here a few months ago where they had a very short lay over and they were delayed which made them miss their flight. It was then a nightmare as had knock ons for returns as well. I would personally either do the 5.5hrs or the previous day. Aer Lingus aren't the most punctual of airlines IMHO. Dublin immigration is great though and they are the most friendly boarder force people I have encountered, I just personally don't like Aer Lingus but that's another story!

We are flying on a separate ticket Man-Dub, staying overnight in Premier Inn. Then the next day, leisurely breakfast before checking in for the flight to Mco and using 51st and Green lounge after pre-clearance.

We found security at Dublin easy and far less stressful than Manchester. Pre-clearance is straightforward and relatively quick.
